God's Delight

I was reminded about something today. Scripture says to "delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.," Proverbs 37:4. When you come into God's presence, do you only come to ask for things. . .blessings, or do you come, simply because you delight in His Presence? Do you only come when you are seeking something from Him, or simply because you love him. . . because He loves you? Have you ever thought that maybe...just maybe, God might want to be in YOUR presence? That, may be, He could delight in just being with YOU? Zephania 3:17 says this in the KJV: The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.(KJV). The NIV says: The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."(NIV). Psalm46:10a says, "Be still, and know I am God."

So, next time you come before the Lord, try not to have any agenda, try not to ask for anything, try to just come. . .come because you love Him, come, because you delight in Him, come, just because He delights in and desires to be with YOU! Quiet your soul and come in silence and just sit awhile and inwardly gaze upon the One who loves you more than you will ever know! Selah! Pause! And calmly think about that!.

Wool Gathering

Ever wonder what it would be like to be totally loved and accepted to the point that when you are corrected and or rebuked, it doesn't feel like correction or rebuke, it doesn't feel like pain, it doesn't feel like rejection...it feels like love? Now, that would take a tremendously powerful love relationship...a relationship that produces healing and growth.

Ephesians chapter 1, verses 4 thru 6 says that God "chose us before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blame before him in love". It also says that he "predestined us to be his adopted children by Jesus Christ ", and because he was pleased to do this for you and for me ("according to the pleasure of his will") he "has made us (you and me) accepted in the beloved to the praise of His glory". I think this is worth a Selah moment...that is let us "Pause and calmly think about that!"
